Our client, a US-based, industry-leading team of building automation engineers, looked to hire a Project Manager and a Software Engineer to its team of experts.

We first partnered with this client when our CrimsonXT Energy team submitted a potential sales candidate to their Hiring Manager. Although the client expressed that they didn’t need a salesperson at this time, they did communicate a need for both a Software Engineer and a Project Manager to join their team. Both roles required professionals who could oversee site operations, manage material costs, support technicians and programmers, and report to senior leadership regarding budget and project timelines.

Challenge

Our client faced several challenges in filling both of these positions. They needed experienced candidates with a particular cultural fit but struggled to find the right talent due to their demanding schedule. They had previously partnered with other recruitment agencies without success, and their limited brand awareness in the industry made it difficult to find top-tier talent. Many senior professionals in the industry were also reluctant to move due to pension and retirement benefits at their current companies.

Given these obstacles, the client needed a recruitment partner who could successfully source and engage the right talent while ensuring a seamless hiring process.

Solution

Our team carried out a thorough and strategic search, leveraging our deep understanding of the company to highlight its strengths—promoting its hardworking yet balanced culture, the benefits of joining a team of industry experts, and the career opportunities it offers.

We quickly identified a highly experienced candidate who was seeking a new opportunity for better work-life balance. This candidate had relevant experience in programming and software engineering, along with hands-on field experience in hardware and technical support, making him a perfect fit for the Project Manager position. His track record of long-term commitment to previous employers aligned perfectly with the client’s preference for loyal employees. The candidate was also located near the client’s headquarters and was already working for a competitor, meaning his expertise in the field was highly relevant. Within just 15 minutes of receiving the candidate’s CV, the client requested that we schedule an interview the same week.

Our team successfully negotiated a competitive salary, a company car, and benefits for the candidate, and the process moved swiftly. We were able to arrange an initial phone interview taking place on Tuesday, followed by a face-to-face interview on Friday. By the following week, an offer was extended, and the candidate officially started in December.

Impact

Our team has maintained regular check-ins with both the client and the candidate post-placement, and since joining the company, the successful Project Manager has made a significant impact on the team.

Following our quick success with this position, we continued our search for the Software Engineer role and swiftly got in contact with another highly qualified individual who we referred to the client. Following an initial phone conversation and a face-to-face interview, this candidate met the programming team and then confirmed his commitment to the new position.

The candidate expressed his priority being less responsibility, more work-life balance and maintaining or improving his current salary – something which would typically be hard to manage. After negotiations facilitated by our team and our client, this candidate accepted a well-structured salary package (an improvement on his previous) and officially started the role in February.

The success of both of these placements strengthened our relationship with the client, leading them to entrust us with their additional hiring needs. They have since requested our assistance in filling multiple roles, including positions at their sister company for HVAC technicians and building automation technicians across the US.
